Thomas Day

Tam was the second child of my mum and dad. Me being the oldest and my sister Lorna being the youngest. As they were very close in age they were much closer to each other as we were growing up in Stenhousemuir. Tam was a pest, or a bloody nuicence to be honest. [I have the dart marks in my skull to prove it!!]
Tam,s first job was in Daniel's at Larbert. After that he got a christmas job as Mark's and Spencer's in Falkirk, a job he really enjoyed, staying there for 18 years. There he met a young lady called Sandra, who could not stand him. How things change!
Tam married and although this did not last, one good thing came out of it. His beautiful daughter, Lauren. As happens Lauren and Tam did not see much of each other as she got older, but that did not mean he, or any of us forgot her. Sadly Lauren died of cystic fibrosis and this broke his heart. It is my only comfort to know that wherever they are , they are together.
Tam had the good fortune to meet Sandra, remember the girl from m&s who couldn't stand him, and low and behold they were married in 1998. Tam also inherited Sandra's 3 childern. Then, to their delight, Arun John Day was born on May 8 1999. Tam and AJ were inseperable.
Tam's life was complete when he got a job with HL Plant in Airth and met his great boss and friend, Hutch.
Sadly in September 2007 Tam was diagnosed with leukaemia, and as you can imagine, we were all devastated. Tam decided to face this head on and would face the battle with courage and determination. In November 2007, I was overjoyed to discover I was an identical match for stem cell donation for Tam.
Transplant dates were set for the end of January 2008.
All seamed to go well. Then Tam suffered a stroke. He was severely weakened by this. As his immune system got weaker, he continued to smile and do his best, but he also knew the end could be near and planned what he wanted if the end came.
Tam died on April30 2008, after being visited by all his family and his many friends. Thankfully it was peaceful and he was no longer in pain or distress.
Tam's ashes were scattered, at his request, in Glen Etive, Glencoe.
